Can you tell me about the admission procedure in M.F.A. Degree (By Papers) of Painting Program offered by JJ School of Arts Mumbai affiliated to University of Mumbai?

The admission procedure in M.F.A. Degree (By Papers) of Painting Program offered by JJ School of Arts Mumbai affiliated to University of Mumbai is as follows:


One has to register as a postgraduate student of the University.

One for being eligible for admission in different branches must have passed the Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree exam (12 + 4 or 10 + 5 degree course) in the respective branch, of the University of Mumbai or an equivalent University of India/Abroad recognized by this University as equivalent thereto.


One must have passed the B.F.A degree in the respective branch in Second Class. The admission to the course will be made purely on the merits of the candidate's qualification and performance in an interview.


The Interview will carry 100 marks, out of which 50 marks will be 50% marks of the grand total of the marks obtained at degree exam of B.F.A. and remaining 50 marks will be allotted to ones performance in the interview.

It is mandatory to produce B.F.A. Class/Sessional/Term-work entire portfolio at the time of interview.


Admission will be open to the students from foreign countries on recommendations by the Ministry of Education and Cultural/External Affairs, Government of India and through proper channel. However their applications will be considered subject to minimum qualifications to their eligibility for admission. (20% seats will be reserved for persons out of India).

 Philosophy of Art

Group-II (Practical)
 Practical work (To be certified by the College) Practical Work for M.F.A. - A student will be specializing in any one of the following studio major :
(A) Painting,
(B) Portraiture,
(C) Graphics,
(D) Mural



PART-II M.F.A. Painting

Group-I (Theory)
 Dessertation minium 7,000 words
 Viva-voce

Group-II (Practical)
 Sessional Work
(Display of practical work of First Year and Second Year to be assessed by the panel of examiners appointed by the University).
