My son plans to do B.Tech (Automobile Engg) and has applied to UPES, Dehradun. Some of my friends are cautioning me stating that UPES is not highly ranked in any survey and they suggest moving to others like SRM, Amrita and others who are among the top 100 colleges in published surveys.

Can anyone advise me on this please? How is UPES placed among Indian Universities?
