National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) for B.Arch is a national level entrance examination.The NATA is conducted by National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture.

Eligibility: 10+2 passed with minimum 50% marks

Exam Preparation Tips:
The candidates who want to get the NATA exam has good drawing, imagination and observation skills.

Some Books for NATA exams preparation are:-

Architecture Entrance Book by P.K Mishra
B.Arch Exam Guide by P.K Mishra
Verbal and Non verbal Reasoning book by R.K. Agrawal
Elementary maths by Dorofeev
Higher Algebra by Hall & Knight

The NATA test is split into two papers:
Drawing Test
Aesthetic Sensitivity Test


NATA exam Syllabus:

Drawing test:-

Sense of perspective drawing

Ability to sketch a given object proportionately and rendering the same in visually appealing manner

Visualizing and drawing effects of light on the object and shadows cast on surroundings

Creating visual harmony using colours in given composition
Understanding of scale and proportion

Memory drawing

Aesthetic Sensitivity Test:-

Analytical reasoning

Mental Ability

Imaginative comprehension and expression

Architectural awareness

Visualizing different sides of three dimensional object

Visualizing three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings

National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is conducted by the Council of Architecture (COA) for admission to first year of 5 year B.Arch Degree course at all recognized institutions all over the country.

NATA Syllabus
Architecture Awareness & Aptitude

Design and drawing of geometrical or abstract shapes and patterns in pencil,
Architectural Awareness,
architectural terminology,
Identifying commonly used materials and objects based on their textural qualities and colour.
Historical and contemporary buildings of Architectural importance,
Architects and their Works,
Awareness of persons, places, buildings etc. of Architectural importance,

Aesthetic Sensitivity

Aesthetic, Sensitivity and Drawing Skills,
Analytical reasoning Mental ability,
Elements of Design: Lines, Form, Mass, Solid etc,
Generation of plan, elevations and 3D views of objects.
Creating two dimensional and three dimensional compositions using given shapes and forms,
Development of 3 Dimensional objects from two-dimensional shapes Or vice versa,
Visualizing different sides of Three Dimensional objects,
theory of colors,
Principle of Design, Harmony, Balance, etc.
Creative Sensitivity + Memory Drawing

Scale and proportion,
Freehand sketching of objects and Activities commonly seen in the rural or urban/suburban context such as Furniture, Machine, landscape, Buildings, kitchens, Playground, Markets, Railway Platform, Bus Stop, Exhibitions etc, Enlargement & Reduction of Drawings, Mirror image etc.
