School was established at Maulana Azad Road Officer’s Hostel in Delhi in May 1953. It was called Defense Services Public school, classes extended up to VIII and July 1961, it was upgraded to class XI with 600 children and 32 faculty members.

1976 the school got its present name, the army public school. It has since been affiliated to CBSE New Delhi & Directorate of Education, Delhi.
The school provides classes till XII
Screening of the Candidates:
Candidates are screened and short listed in four stages:-

Eligibility Check of the candidates between 15 Oct to 25 Nov. by the school
Written test on second Sunday of January each year.
Interview between 15-25 Feb each year
Teaching skills on completion of the interview

Requirements for admission in Army Public School

Photocopy of Movement order of the guardian and his joining the assignment signed by OC (in case of Independent Coy), CO or Director at the Directorate level, Registrar in Base / Army Hospital. (Certificate signed by other authorities will not be entertained)

Photocopy of report card of the last class attended.

Class I : Birth Certificate (original or photocopy / DO Part II order).

Class II to XII : Transfer Certificate duly counter-signed by the District Education Officer (except in cases of students of KV, Army Schools & Army Public Schools).

Details of Attendance duly attested by the Principal of the previous school, in case of students of Class X & XII joining mid-session
