Southern Regional Station of National Dairy Research Institute is the pioneering institution in Dairying. It had its origin on 16th July 1923 as Imperial Institute of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, established as a centre for training and research in dairying in India.

As a new initiative at SRS, the Dairy Education at Farmers Door, was organized and visits were made by the multidisciplinary team on second Saturdays to villages in and around Bangalore districts.
