PUBLIC HEALTH ADMINISTRATION COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is the study of health policy and management concerns regarding the delivery, quality and cost of healthcare for individuals and populations. It reviews the structure, process and outcomes of health services including costs, financing, organization and accessibility to care. RATIONALE

This course provides the foundational understanding for the organization and function of the public health and health care delivery systems in the United States. As a core requirement in the study of public health, it presents the public and private sector entities that impact both individual and population-based aspects of health care, including health policy and planning, legal and ethical issues, and safety and preparedness. The course will emphasize critical examination of the health care delivery system as it currently exists, and of contemporary efforts to improve its efficiency.
