Do you know difference between the CDSL and NSDL if you know please give me information about it and also please tell me from which website I can get more details about it please tell me about this and also tell me about its official website.

CDSL stands for Central Depository Services Limited

NSDL stands for National Securities Depository Limited

There is no major difference between the two; there is small difference in their charges and their working.

(NSDL) depositories have the trades done on National Stock Exchange (NSE).

CDSL holds the ones from Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
There are also 22 other Regional Stock Exchanges.

NSDL stands for national securities dipository and CDSL stands for central dipository securities limited.
Both depository hold different types of securities of electronic form.

A dipository participant is same as agent which open accounts of investors.

Both NSDL & CDSL are similar to each other only their charges are different.

Charges are very small differences in NDSL & CDSL.

NSDL is the acronym for "National Securities Depository Limited", whereas CDSL is the acronym for "Central Depository Securities Limited”.

NSDL works for National Stock Exchange (NSE), whereas CDSL works for Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

NSDL and CDSL difference lies in the following points:

Stock Exchange: CDSL works for BSE and NSDL works for NSE however the exchanges can use either of the two depositories for trading and settlement of securities.

Promoters: Another difference between the two are their promoters. NSDL is promoted by IDBI Bank Ltd., Unit trust of India and NSE. CDSL is promoted only by BSE as on December 2019.

Establishment years: CDSL was established in 1999 and NSDL was established in 1996.

Demat account number format: There is a difference between CDSL and NSDL demat account number. Demat accounts held with CDSL have 16 numeric digits in them and NSDL demat accounts have two alpha numeric digits- ‘IN’ and 14 numeric digits.

Number of depository participants registered: CDSL has 599 DPs registered with itself and NSDL has 278 DPs registered on its system. This is according to the latest numbers.

List of services provided by CDSL and NSDL
