I am interested in teaching and want to apply for UGC NET - National Eligibility Test. Will you tell Academic Qualifications for Entrance NET UGC also provide all important dates for exam?

UGC NET - National Eligibility Test is conducted twice in a year for selection of deserving candidates for the posts of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian Govt. Universities and Colleges.

NTA UGC NET exam is conducted in the month of June & December every year.

Academic Qualifications:

Qualifying Exam:


Applying candidate should own Master’s degree or its equivalent from a board or university recognized by UGC.

Qualifying Marks:

Candidate must have secured minimum of 55% marks (50% for ST/SC/OBC/PwD) in the Master’s degree in streams such as Social Science, Humanities, Computer Science & Applications and Electronic Science.

Exemption (Eligibility for Assistant Professor):

Candidates must clear their NET/SLET/SET exam in order to be eligible for the post of Assistant Professor in various Universities or institutions.

Candidates successfully clearing their SET recognized by UGC will be exempted to appear in the exam.

Candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR JRF examination earlier than the year 1989 are exempted to appear for the test.

Candidates who are awarded with a PhD Degree by UGC as per the minimum standards and process for the award will be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SET/SELT for appointment as Assistant Professor in Universities/ Colleges/ Institutions.

UGC NET Notification Release Date by 16th March 2020
Release of Application form 16th March 2020
Last date to Submit UGC NET Application 16th May 2020 (upto 04:00 pm)
Last date to Pay Fee 16th May 2020 (upto 11:50 pm)
Correction in particulars of Application Form on website only 16th May to 23rd May 2020
Downloading of Admit Cards from NTA website May, 2020
UGC NET 2020 Exam Dates 15th to 20th June 2020
Duration of UGC Exam 180 minutes (03 hours)
No break between Paper 1 & Paper 2
Timing of Examination First Shift: 9.30 am to 12.30 pm
Second Shift: 02.30 pm to 05.30 pm
UGC NET 2020 Result Date by 5th July 2020
