I am telling you the tips for preparation of National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) Stage 1 Exam.

NTSE Stage 1 Exam preparation Tips-

Plan you preparation in sync with NTSE Syllabus

It’s necessary to know your strengths & weaknesses.

Follow NCERT books of classes IX and X for NTSE preparation.

You must solve a lot of sample papers and mock tests at least thrice a week.

Analyze Your Performance


The MAT section tests your mental ability. Hence, you must give sufficient time for preparing for this part.

Follow NCERT for the scholastic aptitude section

You need not get stressed

NTSE Exam Pattern

There are 3 papers in both stages –

1. Mental Ability Test (MAT),

2. Language Test and

3. Scholastic Ability Test (SAT).

Questions are in the form of multiple choices with negative marking deducting 1/3 marks.

The tests are available in Asamiya, Bangla, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Malyalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

However, language test is available in two languages – English & Hindi.

Mental Ability Test (MAT) 50 50 45 minutes

Language Test 50 50 45 minutes
Scholastic Ability Test (SAT)

Math, Science & S St. 150 150 90 minutes
