About the Department

The Department of Botany, University of Delhi, was established in 1947 with about 50 students and a couple of faculty, including the then Head of the Department, Dr. J.J. Chinoy. The dynamic and visionary contributions of several renowned botanists earned the Department international recognition for its teaching and research in plant morphology, development and embryology.

Phytomorphology
Phytomorphology is an international journal published by the International Society of Plant Morphologists, and housed at the Department of Botany, University of Delhi. The journal, established in 1951, was dedicated to publication in the areas of plant morphology and embryology, two strengths of the Department through the 1950's to the 1970's.
