Default Re: Pusa Institute of Agriculture Delhi Address

The journey of Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), prevalently known as Pusa Institute, started in 1905 at Pusa (Bihar) with the liberal allow of 30,000 pounds from an American giver, Mr. Henry Phipps. The establishment was then known as Agricultural Research Institute (ARI) which worked with five divisions, to be specific Agriculture, Cattle Breeding, Chemistry, Economic Botany and Mycology. Bacteriology unit was included 1907. The name of ARI was changed to Imperial Institute of Agricultural Research in 1911 and, in 1919 it was renamed as Imperial Agricultural Research Institute. Following a staggering earth tremor on fifteenth January 1934, the organization was moved to Delhi on 29th July 1936. Post autonomy, the organization has been renamed as Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI).

The present grounds of the Institute is an independent sylvan complex spread over a region of around 500 hectares (approx. 1250 sections of land) and situated around 8 km (5 miles) west of New Delhi Railway Station and around 16 km (10 miles) east of IGI Airport (Palam). The area remains at 28.08 0N and 77.12 0E, the tallness above mean ocean level being 228.61 meters (750 feet). It is nearby slope street.

At present, the Institute has 20 divisions 5 multi-disciplinary Centers arranged in Delhi, 8 territorial stations, 2 off-season nurseries, 3 All India facilitated inquire about undertakings with home office at IARI and 10 national Centers working under the all India composed research ventures. It has the endorsed staff quality of 3540 including logical, specialized, managerial and supporting work force.

The administrative as well as technical head of IARI is its Director. The Board of Management with the Director as its administrator, served by four Councils, to be specific, Research Advisory Council, Academic Council, Extension Council and Executive Council, gives the general administration heading. The Director is helped by four Joint Directors i.e., Joint Director (Research), Joint Director (Education) and Dean, Joint Director (Extension) and Joint Director (Administration). The Joint Director (Administration) cares for the everyday authoritative work.
