Default Re: IIT Bombay Grading System

The IIT Bombay is provides grading system for to provides grading marks to its students. A limited number of students are allowed to change from the branch allotted to them at the time of admission. Such changes are made on the basis of the Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of the student at the end of the first two semesters.

The rules governing branch changes are somewhat complicated and for exact conditions, students may contact academic office.

Letter Grade Grade Point
AP 10
AA 10
AB 9
BB 8
BC 7
CC 6
CD 5
DD 4
FR 0 (Fail- Repeat the course)

Grading system:

Grades AA AB BB BC CC CD DD FF FR
Points 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 (ZERO) Fail Grade, eligible for a re-examination (ZERO) Fail Grade, must repeat the course.

SPI = (9x8 + 8x6 + 7x6 + 6x6 + 9x6 + 10x5 + 5x3)/40= 317/40 = 7.92
SPI is calculated upto two decimal places.
