Ontario Forest Research Institute (OFRI) is a division of the Ministry of Natural Resources (Ontario) (OMNR) located in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada.

OFRI research helps provide sustainable management of Ontario Forests and Natural Resources.

This institute is composed of research scientists, specialists, statisticians, technicians, management, and administrative staff.

It lead the management of Ontario’s Crown lands, water, oil, gas, salt and aggregates resources, including making Crown land available for renewable energy projects

Protect people, property and communities from forest fires, floods and droughts

Develop and apply geographic information to help manage the province's natural resources

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry divides the province into 3 administrative regions:

Northwest Region – Thunder Bay
Northeast Region – South Porcupine
Southern Region – Peterborough

Each region oversees a number of district offices.
