The department of Applied Chemistry has contributed fundamentally to advanced education and examination in the range of Applied Chemistry, Polymer Science and Chemical Technology. This division is the guardian bureau of Textile Engineering and Chemical Engineering offices which have been enbloc to IIT Delhi in 1960s. Likewise, Biotechnology bureau of DTU, Delhi was incepted in 2004 by Applied Chemistry and Polymer Technology division.

The division offers B.Tech (Polymer Science and Chemical Technology), M.Tech (Polymer Technology) and Ph.D program in Applied Chemistry, Polymer Science and Chemical Technology.

The M.Tech (Polymer Technology) project was begun in 1986 while four year B.Tech course in year 1998. Notwithstanding the above, office teaches the sound Chemical Science base to all understudies in first year UG program as Applied Chemistry and Engineering Materials courses.

Both B.Tech and M.Tech courses are interdisciplinary to set up the specialized labor for Chemical and Polymer industry. The yearly admission of B.Tech understudies is 62. The yearly admission of normal M.Tech understudy is 25 and low maintenance understudy is 8. The office additionally concedes research researchers with college grants. An extensive number of its graduated class are involving prestigious positions in India and abroad.
