The National Insurance Company Ltd is India’s oldest general insurance Company. It was incorporated in Kolkata on 5th December, 1906 to fulfil the nationalist aspiration for Swaraj.

National Insurance Company is controlled by IRDA. IRDA is provides its 58 Registration Number to National insurance.

Premium rate of charges in National insurance of IRDA:

Period Of Risk Rate Of Premium To Be Charged
Up to one month ¼th of the annual rate
Up to three months ½ of the annual rate
Up to six months ¾th of the annual rate
Exceeding six months Full annual rate

Room charges and Intensive care unit charges as provided by the hospital

Nursing expenses

Surgeon, anaesthetist, medical practitioner, consultants, specialist’s fees

Anaesthesia, blood, oxygen, operation theatre charges, surgical appliances, medicines & drugs, diagnostic materials and Xray, dialysis, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy cost of pacemaker, artificial limbs and similar expenses.

Ambulance charges not exceeding `1,000/- (Rupees one thousand only) per policy period.

In case of hospitalisation of children below 12 (twelve) years, a lump sum amount of `1,000/- (Rupees one thousand only) per policy period towards the out-of-pocket expenses.
