After increasing the number of attempts for civil service aspirants, the government has now raised the age limit for appearing in the examination. As per norms, a candidate who has attained the age of 21 years can apply for the examination. Age Limit for IAS Exam General-- According to new provisions, a general category candidate will have six attempts in place of the previous four. The age-limit for a general candidate has been increased to 32 years from the existing 30. For SC/St & OBC -- For an SC/ST candidate, the number of attempts is unlimited and the age limit has been raised to 35 years. For Other Backward Classes (OBCs), the number of attempts is nine attempts until 35 years of age. Physically challenged candidates -- -In the general and OBC categories will now be eligible for nine attempts as against the seven. -The revised age-limit will be 42 years for general and 45 years for OBC candidates. -There is no cap on the number of attempts for physically handicapped candidates in the SC/ST categories, while there will be an age limit of 47 years for them as against the present 45 years.

I have information about IAS. So here I am telling you about Eligibility Criteria, Age relaxation as well as number of attempts. Eligibility Criteria the upper age limit will be 37 years for SC/ST candidates with unlimited number of attempts; 35 years for OBC with 9 attempts; and 32 for the unreserved (general) category with 6 attempts. For physically handicapped candidates age limit is 42, 45 and 47 years for General, OBC and SC/ST category respectively while the number of attempts is 9 for General and OBC and unlimited for SC/SC category. Age relaxation category Maximum Age Attempt General 32 6 OBC 32+3=35 9 SC/ST 32+5=37 As many as upto age limt Physically disabled (Blind, Deaf-mute, Orthopedic) 32+10=42 if general then 9 OBC then 9 SC/ST- then upto age limt J&K domicile if general then 32+5=37 depending on above OBC then 32+5+3=40 categories viz.Gen SC/ST then 32+5+5=42 , OBC, SC/ST, PH then 32+5+10=50 Disabled Disabled serviceman discharged from duty if general then 32+3=35 OBC then 32+3+3=38 SC/ST then 32+3+5=40 -do- Ex-serviceman with five years duty if general then 32+5=37 OBC then 32+5+3=40 SC/ST then 32+5+5=42 -do-
