Karnataka is the first Indian State to pass Fiscal Responsibility Act (KFRA) in 2002. Government of Karnataka (GoK) established it in 2007, with an initial plan granted by Government of India. Setting up FPI signifies the commitment of the State to institutionalize the process of implementing the Act in real sense. Thus, FPI is set up to assist GoK to enhance "informed" decision-making in state government and local bodies. Contact Detail: Fiscal Policy Institute, Government of Karnataka, Kengeri Post, Bangalore-Mysore Road, Bangalore - 560060, Karnataka, India.
