Default Re: Health And Safety Management System Audit

A health and safety management system audit is a comprehensive review of an employer’s health and safety management system.

This can be done by issuing the Certificates of Recognition (COR). To qualify for a COR, an audit must be carried out by a qualified auditor.

The audit will cover the eight basic elements of a health and safety management system and will include documentation review, interviews, and observation tours to verify the effectiveness of the management system..

An audit protocol is the set of rules that are designed to make audit of the system an easy job for the auditor.

Types of audit-

External audit-
An external audit is a systematic review of the employer’s health and safety system carried out by an independent auditor who does not work for the employer being audited.

Peer audit-

A peer audit is carried out by a qualified auditor working for another employer who is also involved in Partnerships

Internal audit-

An internal audit is an audit of an employer’s health and safety management system conducted by a qualified auditor who works for the employer being evaluated.

Timelines for the audit Programmes-

It depends on the length of time it takes to complete an audit depends upon the size, complexity and scope of operations to be audited.

The time involved will increase with the number of employees to be interviewed, the number and complexity of operations to be reviewed and the geographic scope of the company’s operations.
