Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination for recruitment of various vacancies. The Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination is considered one of the tough examinations in India. following are the details of this exam: Age Limit: For IMA- Unmarried male candidates, born between 2nd January 1991 to 1st January 1996. For INA – Unmarried male candidates, born between 2nd January 1991 to 1st January 1996. For AFA – Unmarried male candidates, born between 2nd January 1992 to 1st January 1996 For OTA SSC course Men – Male candidates (Married / unmarried) born between 2nd January 1990 to 1st January 1996 For OTA (SSC Women Non-technical course ) – Unmarried women and issueless widow born between 2nd January 1990 to 1st January 1996 Nationality: An aspirant must be either Indian, or A subject of Nepal, or A subject of Bhutan, or A Tibetan refugee who came over to India with the intention of permanent staying in India before January 1st, 1962,

Combined Defence Services Examination is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission for recruiting eligible candidates into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy. Following are the details of this examination: Eligibility: IMA & OTA Degree of a recognized University or equivalent Naval Academy B.Sc. with Physics & Mathematics or Bachelor of Engg Air Force Academy B.Sc. with Physics and/or Mathematics or Bachelor of Engg Nationality: An aspirant must be either Indian, or A subject of Nepal, or A subject of Bhutan, or A Tibetan refugee who came over to India with the intention of permanent staying in India before January 1st, 1962, or An aspirant of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Srilanka, Burma or East African countries of Kenya, Age limit: 19-24 Years Indian Military Academy 19-22 Years Naval Academy 19-23 Years Air Force Academy 19-25 Years Officers’ Training Academy Tentative dates: (i) Notification of Examination August and March (ii) Conduct of Examination February and August

The Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination is conducted twice a year by UPSC or Union Public Service Commission for recruitment into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy Age Limit Indian Military Academy 19-24 years Air Force Academy 19-23 years Naval Academy 19-22 years Officers’ Training Academy 19-25 years Nationality: • An aspirant must be either Indian, or • A subject of Nepal, or • A subject of Bhutan, or • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India with the intention of permanent staying in India before January 1st, 1962, or • An aspirant of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Srilanka, Burma or East African countries of Kenya, The United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently staying in India. Educational Qualification: (i) For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy: Degree of a recognized University or equivalent. (ii) For Indian Naval Academy: Degree in Engineering from a recognized university/institution. (iii) For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering. Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Combined Defence Services Examination. CDS Exam Criteria for Girls: For Officers Training Academy (OTA) Only (SSC Women Non technical Course): The unmarried girls are only applicable for the Officers Training Academy and should have been born not earlier or later than dates provided in latest notification. CDS Exam Eligibility for Women: For Officers Training Academy (OTA) Only (SSC Women Non technical Course): The issue less widows and the issue less divorcees who have not remarried and should have been born not earlier or later than dates provided in latest notification.
