Hello, I want to know that is M.sc. in C.S. is similar to MCA or not. Kindly provide me info. MCA means Master of Computer Application. It is a Professional Course but M.Sc it General Course. If you choose M.SC IT or M.SC CS Course, those are good courses, but these both also not equivalent to MCA Course. If you want to become software developer or specialist in software developing field, those have to do MCA Course in the comparison of M.SC IT and CS. Duration of both courses is different. Duration of M.SC IT and CS is 2 Year (each course) and Duration of MCA is 3 Years. Students who want to get admission in MCA Course at Any University, they have to appear in Entrance Exam. But many Universities in India take admission in M.SC IT and CS Course without any Entrance Exam. List of some Best MCA Entrance Exams: AIMCET BHU MCA JECA MCA JNU MCA MHT CET MCA NIMCET RMCAAT LUCSAT BITS MCA Entrance Exam Anna University DEET ICET TANCET MCA B-CAT Last edited by Aakashd; October 12th, 2019 at 03:09 PM. |

Hello, MCA and MSc computer science are quite similar as both are computer oriented courses. But these two courses are different if you look at their syllabus. I would advice you to do MCA because MCA have much more scope and every company is after MCA. Whether you study MCA or MSC it is not the matter for company because it will see your softskills first or your practical knowledge. Usually each big firm of IT conducts its job recruitment exam so the matter is whether you can pass that exam or not. Here I would suggest you to go for MCA instead M.Sc. if you are technology enthusiastic & want a tremendous detail of computer science. Alternatively both are approx. equal. The last thing which I’d mention you that M.Sc. has 2 years duration whereas MCA has 3 years duration. Major jobs after those qualifications:- Software engineering and development, hardware and networking, Research and development, Services and application support. Firms:- Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant Technology Services, IBM, Accenture
