Here are Indian Engineering Services exam tips for well & managed preparation:

Prepare a time table & go according to that
Divide your time efficiently
See latest examination pattern and syllabus
Go through the previous years’ question papers.
Read Newspaper and articles, watch TV news especially the morning bulletin, quiz contests, etc
Try to complete all the sections prior to time limit, so that substantial time is left for revision
Take good author books
Understand concepts
Sleep & Eat well
Concentrate with study
Don’t confuse
Do not take stress

IES is Indian Engineering Services Exam for bright careers of engineering graduates in India. After clearing this exam candidates can join managerial & technical requirement of the Government of India.

Selection of IES Officers is totally depending on merit basis and it is done by Union Government.

Examination Scheme:

First Stage: General Ability Test (GA) of 200 marks and 2 hours paper. Questions will ask from General studies & General English.

Second Stage: Objective Technical papers (II & III) of 2 hours with max of 200 marks each.

Third Stage: Conventional Technical Papers (IV & V). Each paper is of 200 marks and duration is 3 hours.


For preparation of IES Exam you need to follow following tips:

You have to develop conceptual knowledge and problem solving techniques.

Good writing skills, good presentation, subjective theory, explanations, derivations, diagrams and equations.

Be aware of exam pattern

Refer previous year question papers

Use Reference books for derivations, equations, conceptual thinking, theory etc

Apply Short Cut Techniques to solve numerical problems is time taking process

Reading news paper, good grip on English language and current affairs

Focus on General Ability part

Deep knowledge of the subject, strong basics, clears concepts

Personal Interview: Sound technical knowledge, positive attitude, body language, Good communication skills, Hobbies and General Awareness Knowledge
