Default NDA Exam Physical Standards

I am a 12th class science student. What are the physical requirements for admission in NDA? Am I eligible for NDA entrance exam?

National Defence academy (NDA) examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission-UPSC twice in a year to recruits the candidates in Army, Navy & Air Force wings of National Defence Academy.
NDA exam consist of written exam, SSB interview and Medical test followed by All India Merit List. The eligible candidates apply through online and offline application mode.

Eligibility:

===A candidate must be a citizen of India.
===Only Unmarried Male Candidates.
===Age between 16 Ĺ year and 19 Ĺ year.
=== No relaxation of age for reserved category.
===For Army wing of National Defence Academy: 12th Class pass or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

===For Air Force and Naval Wings: 10+2 educational level with physics and mathematics subjects. Candidates who are appearing in the 12th class under the 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent can also apply.

General Physical and Mental Standards

===A candidate should have no past history of mental breakdown or fits.
===The candidate should not be overweight or obese.
===Minimum acceptable height will be 157.5 cms. (162.5 cms for Air Force)
===For Gorkhas and individuals belonging to hills of North Eastern regions of India, Garhwal and Kumaon, minimum acceptable height will be 152.5 cms.
===A minimum of 14 dental points will be acceptable.
===A candidate should not be suffering from severe pyorrhoea.
===A candidate should be able to hear a forced whisper with each ear at a distance of 610 cms in a quite room.

Uncorrected without glass 6/6

Limits of Colour Perception I
Binocular Vision III

For Air Force Candidates

Uncorrected without glass 6/6, 6/9
Corrected with glass 6/6 (only for Hypermetropia)
Limits of Myopia Nil
Limits of Hypermetropia +2.00 D Sph
Colour Vision CPI (MLT)
Astigmatism +0.75 Cyl
Near Vision N-5 each eye

Candidates who habitually wear spectacles are not eligible for air force.

Candidates are also advised to rectify minor defects/ailments in order to speed up finalization of medical examination conducted at the Military Hospital after being recommended at the SSB. Few of such commonly found defects/ailments are listed below

(a) Wax (Ears)
(b) Deviated Nasal Septum
(c) Hydrocele / Phimosis
(d) Overweight/Underweight
(e) Under sized Chest
(f) Piles
(g) Gynaecomastia
(h) Tonsillitis
(i) Varicocele

Employment of candidates to Army, Navy and Air force wings of the National Defence Academy (NDA), is through National Defence Academy Entrance Exam which is held twice a year, generally in the month of March and August. It is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Physical Standards

Physical Standards:

One is advised to correct minor defects/disease in order to speed up finalization of medical exam conducted at the Military Hospital after being recommended at the SSB (Services Selection Board.).

The under mentioned diseases are considered, common minor ailments:
Wax (Ears), Deviated Nasal Septum, Hydrocele/ Phimosis, Overweight/Underweight, under sized Chest, Piles, Gynaecomastia, Tonsillitis, Varicocele

A candidate selected by the SSB undergoes a medical exam by a Board of Service Medical Officers. Those candidates are admitted to the academy that is declared fit by the Medical Board.

Those who are declared unfit are intimated by the President of the Medical Board and the procedure for request for an Appeal Medical Board also be intimated to the candidate.
Candidates declared unfit during Appeal Medical Board are intimated about the provision of Review Medical Board.

(a) The candidate must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease/disability which is likely in interfere with the efficient performance of military duties.

(b) There should be no evidence of weak constitution, bodily defects or under weight. The candidate should not be overweight or obese.

(c) The minimum acceptable height is 157.5 cms. (162.5 cms for Air Force) F
