Default Re: Broad Institute Tetrahymena

The Broad Institute is a biomedical and genomic research center which located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S. It’s a non-profit research organization & affiliated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University and its affiliated hospitals.

The broad facilities provided by this institute at 320, Charles Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts, house one of the largest genome sequencing centers in the world.

Here I am giving you some information about Tetrahymena Comparative Database & project description
This project comes in Genomics Platform.
Tetrahymena are free-living ciliate protozoa which exhibit nuclear dimorphism:
there are two types of cell nuclei,
(1.)a large, somatic macronucleus (MAC)
(2.)a small, germline micronucleus (MIC)
existing in a single cell at the same time.
However, these studies would benefit greatly from comparative genomic data.
One of the goals of this project is to sequence and annotate the MAC genomes of three additional species of the Tetrahymena genus those are
(a.)T. malaccensis
(b.)T. elliotti
(c.)T. borealis.
The data obtained will allow more accurate mapping of T. thermophila genes and regulatory sequences that control transcription and replication. The second goal of the project is to sequence and annotate the MIC genome of T. thermophila.
Full knowledge of the MIC genome sequence will assist to enable studies of the mechanism behind the programmed genome rearrangement events.

Here, I am giving you information about Authors & affiliations. Hope it will also play a subsidiary part for your quarry.
