Health and Safety Management in Schools

Health and Safety Management is usually very necessary in Schools.
Responsibilities for safety and health management are being refocused in Schools.

Safety is important and needs to be approached creatively and should not be seen as simply another legal burden or bureaucratic chore.
Health and Safety Management plays an important role in schools and colleges.

Trainers and teachers teach the legal context for health and safety management in schools and suggest a strategic approach which can be used by any educational organization. It also suggests a whole school approach to ‘teaching safely’ – ensuring that facilities and activities are suitably safe and ‘teaching safety’ – preparing children for adult life by teaching them to understand and manage risk.

Schools and colleges as employers have a legal duty to carry out suitable and sufficient risk assessments in accordance with Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations.
