Freshman Admission Requirements

General
-Online Application
- $65 application fee or College Board fee waiver form
- You must submit official results and a transcript of any high school work attempted.

-You do not have to submit SAT or ACT scores if you meet One of the following conditions:
You have finished secondary school and have subsequently completed 12 or more college credits with final course grades available by the Early Action Date.
You graduated from high school before 2011 and are applying for Spring 2013 or Fall 2013 admission.

-All other applicants MUST submit official SAT or ACT scores.
-Personal Essay is required for all students.

High School Requirements

Newark College of Arts and Sciences, University College-Newark, the Rutgers Business School-Newark, the School of Criminal Justice, and the School of Public Affairs and Administration require to complete the following coursework at the high school level to be considered for admission:
English: 4 years
Foreign Language: 2 years of one language
Mathematics: 3 years, including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II
Science: 2 years
Other Courses: 5 other academic courses
Total: 16 academic courses

College of Nursing requires to complete the following coursework at the high school level to be considered for admission:
English: 4 years
Foreign Language: None required
Mathematics: 3 years, including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II
Science: 1 year each of Biology and Chemistry
Other Courses: 7 other academic courses
Total: 16 academic courses

English Language Requirement
-An official English proficiency examination score is required for applicants who have completed secondary school outside the U.S. in a country where English is Not the principal language

Rutgers accepts any of the following standardized tests to determine the English proficiency:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB)

Admission decisions are primarliy based on academic potential as demonstrated by the following:

Grades
SAT or ACT scores
Strength of your academic program
Extracurricular activities
Grade-point average
Rank in class
