For the Ph.D. in mathematics, you must required 48 credits in an approved program of course work including the following core courses:

16:640:551,552 Abstract Algebra

The below courses are intended as service courses for students in other graduate programs and are not approved for the Ph.D. program in mathematics
16:642:527-528 (Methods of Applied Mathematics),
16:642:550 (Linear Algebra and Applications), and
640:642:593 (Mathematical Foundations for Industrial and Systems Engineering).

Rutgers, The State University of New Jerseyis an American public research university in New Jersey.

The University is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools

It is a member of the Committee on Institutional Cooperation, the Association of American Universities and the Universities Research Association

The Department of Mathematics, Rutgers University offers M.S. degree in two options:

Mathematical Finance option (M.S.M.F.)
Traditional option

Requirements:
For the traditional option, 30 credits of course work are required, At least 18 of these credits must be in courses offered by the Graduate Program in Mathematics.

Test Requirements

GRE General and Subject in Mathematics are required for PhD program.
