The Centre for Fashion Studies at Stockholm University was established in the year 2006. Fashion Studies is an interdisciplinary academic topic that covers within social sciences and humanities such as history, culture ,economy, and art. The Master's Programme in Fashion Studies is a theoretical programme and no pracical elements are included. The first year deals with representations of fashion from a historical perspective as well as studies of fashion as material culture. The second year considers the methodology and theory for the upcoming thesis. The master program prepares students for doctoral studies in Fashion Studies and related fields lead to employment within the broad fashion field, such as fashion marketing, financial analysis , fashion journalism, fashion analysis within the fashion industry and design profession with theoretical basis.
