The HESI entrance exam is formally referred to as the Evolve Reach Admission Assessment Exam. The HESI exam consists of a total of 10 different exams, covering the areas of: Math Reading Vocabulary Grammar Biology Chemistry Anatomy and Physiology Physics Detailed sections: Math: 50-item exam. Focuses on math skills needed for health care fields, including basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, decimals, ratio and proportion, household measures, and general math facts that are useful, for example, when calculating drug dosages and solutions. Reading Comprehension: 47-item exam. Identifying the main idea, finding meaning of words in context, passage comprehension, making logical inferences, etc Vocabulary and General Knowledge: 50-item exam. Contains basic vocabulary that is often used in health care fields Recommended Time: 50 minutes Grammar: 50-item exam. parts of speech, important terms and their uses in grammar, and commonly occurring grammatical errors. Chemistry: 25-item exam. Contains test items that cover matter, chemical equations and reactions, the periodic table, atomic structure, nuclear chemistry, and chemical bonding. Anatomy and Physiology (A&P): 25-item exam. Provides coverage of general terminology and anatomical structures and systems. Biology: 25-item exam. Covers biology basics, water, biological molecules, metabolism, cells, cellular respiration, and photosynthesis. Physics: 25-item exam. Contains test items covering: average speed, acceleration, projectile motion, Newton’s Laws of Motion, friction, rotation, uniform circular motion, energy, gravitation, waves and sound, optics, and light. Recommended Time: 50 minutes.
