Jewish genetic diseases is an autosomal recessive disorder which is the result of mutation of the GBA gene located on chromosome which affects many of the body’s tissues and organs .
An affected person has a change in both genes of the pair of genes, one change inherited from each parent. Neither gene in the pair is working properly, which causes the symptoms of the disease. Symptoms: Enlarged spleen and liver Anemia Fatigue Osteoporosis – general demineralization of the bones Spontaneous fractures (due to weakening of the bones) Arthritis Easy bruising Tendency to bleed due to reduced platelets Bone pain (bone crisis)
