SYLLABUS for FITTER
Discuss on ferrous & non-ferrous metals, safety precautions, fire extinguishers, first aid.
Use of hand tools, cutting tools, marking tools, checking and measuring instruments , lettering, orthographic views, isometric view, oblique view, free hand sketching, discuss on properties of metals, related calculations regarding industrial works.

Hand work of precision marking, precision measuring, hacksawing chipping, reaming, tapping, dieing, lapping, scraping, fitting components according to limits and fits polishing, buffing, machine assembly, machine foundation, erection, installation and commission, etc.

Repair and maintenance, preventive maintenance of machines, producing machine parts by hand with filing work, key and key-way fitting, producing components by using machine tools such as drilling machine, lathe, shaper, milling machine , surface grinder etc.

Works such as riveted joints, smithy works, sheet metal works, gas and arc welding, heat treatment, pipe fittings, plumbing work, preparing jigs and fixtures, etc. Machine operations such as drilling, honing, turning, knurling, threading on lathe, shaping, milling surface grinding, wood work etc.
