Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Misuse of Funds Report
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is a result of the demand for quality basic education throughout the country. It is an attempt to universalise elementary education through community-ownership of the school system. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is to furnish utility and applicable elementary education for all children in the six to fourteen age group through 2010. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan program is as well an attempt to furnish a chance for developing human capacities to all children, by provision of community-owned quality education in a mission mode.
Couple of months back there was a report in approximately all Indian major nerwspapers about a British media report that criticized the Department of International Development (DFID), government of UK endorsed education program, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan that had criticized the program for alleged misuse of funds. The report drew almost instant aid and sharp reaction with the Human Resource Development ministry of the government of India not wasting any time to express its displeasure. Refusing news reports of foreign funds given for the flagship Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan – being misused, the Human Resource Development ministry allocations below the programme were below autonomous monitoring, which has given acceptable reports so far.
