Opportunities to Study Aborad in France
Re: Opportunities to Study Aborad in France
The flexibility of French higher education allows you to design an academic itinerary that is perfectly suited to your goals and background. Thousands of possibilities exist in every field of knowledge.
The quality of the French higher education system rests on the country's many and varied institutions, each of which has unique goals as well as unique structures and programs through which to pursue those goals.
Naturally, each also has its own admission requirements. International students who already have begun their higher education, and who may even hold a university degree, may obtain further training in France. Many opportunities exist for students to transfer into degree programs and receive credit for the post secondary work they have already done. In fact, that's one of the best ways to study in France.
The French Ministry of Education offers occasional grants to international students, subject to the availability of funds. The best source of information on any of these programs is the cultural service of the French embassy in your country.
In general, education in France is subsidised by the state. About 140,000 international students go to France for study every year. In order to attract more international students, French universities are now increasingly hing English as the language of instruction, specially in areas like management, engineering, political sciences, etc. At present around 500 courses in France are available in English.
Some of the popular courses of study in France in English are:
Management, Engineering, Hotel Management, Fashion Designing and Political Science.
In order to attract more students from India, the French government has allowed them to work part-time while they are studying in France. Indian students can work up to 20 hours a week on or off campus and also earn extra income through internships. The French government has also recently changed their laws and introduced a new system whereby foreign students who finish their courses can stay back for an initial period of six months after their courses to look for jobs in France without any visa extension. If they get jobs that are commensurate with their qualifications, the students will be allowed to change their status to work visas for three years. The new system is very favourable for Indian students in France who-if they come up with projects that can convince the government authorities-can stay back to study or carryout research without having to apply for new work permits or coming back to India.
