The Indian Engineering Services comprise of engineers who work under the government of India and designated as Class – 1 officer.
They administer has a large segment constitutes of Indian Railways, Power, Telecommunications, Central Water engineering, Defence service of Engineers, Central Engineering Service, etc.
Schedule of IES Exam (Engineering Services Examination)
Notification of Examination September/October of preceding year of examination
Preliminary Examination January/February of the year of examination
Main Examination July/August of the year of examination
Date of Notification: 28th September 2016
Last Date for Receipt of Applications: 21st October 2016
Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination: 8th January 2017
Engineering Services (Main) Examination: 14th May 2017
Academic qualification Candidates must be a graduate in engineering. However, those who are appearing for the exam can also apply.
Age limits for IES Exam:
A candidate for this examination must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years
The upper age-limit of 30 years will be relaxable up to 35 years in the case of Government servants of the following categories
Age relaxation:
Relaxation in upper age limit will be provided to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Ex.Servicemen which are as follows:
SC & ST – 5 years
OBC – 3 years
Ex.Servicemen – 5 years
Domicial of J& K- 5 years
deaf?mute and Orthopedically handicapped persons -10 years
