Default CAT Exam Preparation Duration

Can you provide me some tips for preparation of CAT or Common Admission Test as I will be giving the exam this time and wants to perform good?

CAT or Common Admission Test is conducted by Indian Institute of Managements (IIMs) for seeking admission to the prestigious management colleges in India. One aspiring to get admission to IIMs and other leading management schools need to appear for the Common Admission Test.

CAT Exam Preparation Tips

If, you have set a goal to get into a best Management Institute than start preparing fro CAT from second year of graduation

Time management is an essential ingredient to crack the CAT exam and make it to your favorite college.

Minimum 10 hours study required before the 6 months of CAT exams

Minimum 10,000 Vocabulary (new databank) required to prepare.

Daily two hours required to study newspapers and Editorials. (English)

Read at least two magazines, one novel each week.

Try for the shortcuts of mathematics. Calculations must be strong.

See any type of graph in any where you find, try to interpret that as fast as possible.

Change your attitude. Make one decision strictly. And only try for right decision or donít answer in case of doubt.

Read whatever you love. But try to read on different subjectsí articles.

Before three months of CAT, Daily solve one set of available question paper.

Try to make logical sense everywhere.

Try to solve calculations mentally.

Negative marking is a part of CAT. So, not to take wild guesses in the Exam paper.


CAT Exam Syllabus

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension:
Reading comprehension, verbal reasoning, syllogisms, analogies, antonyms, and synonyms, fill in the blanks, sentence correction, idioms, etc.

Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning:

Data interpretation and analysis of data based on text, tables, graphs (line, area), charts (column, bar, pie), venn diagram, clocks, calendars, binary logic, seating arrangement, blood relations, logical sequence, assumption, premise, conclusion, linear and matrix arrangement, etc.

Quantitative Ability:
Number systems, geometry, trigonometry, probability, permutation combination, algebra, mensuration, time and work, averages, percentages, profit and loss, quadratic and linear equations, etc
