The Central Water and Power Research Station (CWPRS), Pune was founded on 1916 through the then Bombay Presidency as a “Special Irrigation Cell” with a limited authorization to qualify irrigation practice to meet agricultural requirements. The Research Station was changed over to Khadakwalsa, almost sixteen kilometers southwest of Pune, with a more prominent campus on 1925. Nowadays, it, a component of the Union Ministry of Water Resources and it is one of the world-class administrations in the world in the area of hydraulics and allied research.
